Kylemore Abbey was originally built in 1868 and is now the home to the Irish Benedictine Nuns. Facilities at Kylemore include a visitor's centre, restaurant, Gothic church, gardens, lake and mountain walks, pottery, craft and souvenir shop.
The Connemara National Park & Visitor Centre at Letterfrack, includes an exhibition on the boglands of Connemara, an audio-visual introduction to the Connemara National Park and nature trails.
Day boat trips can be made to the unique Aran Islands from Rossaveal only 15 minutes drive from The Twelve Hotel. The Aran Islands is considered the foothold of Irish culture and heritage in Ireland and is well worth a visit.
