Proposed Itinerary :
Day One:
‘You will arrive’ at The Twelve Hotel in Barna, the Gateway to Connemara. Get settled into your chic room, enjoy great cocktails in the bar, study the wine list and decide which of the two great award winning restaurants at The Twelve will be yours tonight.
Day Two:
After breakfast, head toward Oughterard (allow 35 minutes). The Corrib Ferry leaves from the heart of Oughterard. It will take about an hour to cross beautiful Lough Corrib with its sweeping view of the Connemara Mountains. At the end of the journey stands the magical and majestical Ashford Castle, dating back to the 13th century AD. The castle grounds as well as the surrounding village of Cong were the setting for the classic film by John Ford, The Quiet Man, starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. You will have 2 ½ hours to stroll the beautiful gardens, visit the village of Cong and enjoy a light lunch before heading back towards Oughterard. A stop on the historical island of Inchagoill where you will be able to observe :
• St. Patricks Church (5th Century)
• The stone of Lugna (470AD: Gravestone of St. Patricks navigator)
• The Church of the Saints (Built in 1180AD by the Augustinian Monks of Cong)
• The burial tomb of Muirgeas O'Nioc (Archbishop of Tuam in 1128AD)
Once you arrive back at the hotel you can enjoy ‘aprez cruise’ cocktails in the Pins before your stroll down to the pier and the best seafood restaurant in Ireland.
Day Three:
So many options:
-You can further explore Connemara by driving the ‘Loop’ and/or visiting places such as Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park, Clifden Town, Killary Fjord, picturesque Roundstone Village
-Or, head into the other direction and visit the surreal surroundings of the Burren and the world famous Cliffs of Moher. (Ireland’s nomination for the global online campaign to find the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2011)
-Take the ferry or even fly to one of the Aran Islands. Spend the day wandering around and soaking up the incredible natural beauty and history of Inis Mor, Inis Man or Inis Oirr
-Go Hill-walking in Connemara. There are many hiking options available for both beginners and avid hikers
-A round of Golf in any one of the many beautiful Golf Courses within 10 minutes of The Twelve
-Or you can choose this day to do absolutely nothing at all and avail of one of the fantastic Voya treatments which are available in the Petit Spa @ The Twelve or even in the comfort of your own room.
-In the evening head into lively Galway City (Only 10 minutes by taxi).
- Or just enjoy the great craic and meet the locals in The Pins Bar @ The Twelve – The heart and soul of this beautiful village.
Day Four:
Enjoy another great cooked to order breakfast, followed by a swim at Silverstrand, a walk in the Barna Woods or pay a visit to the ‘Gaelge’ craft village of An Spideal for parting souvenirs.

After Breakfast you are just 25 minutes away from Brigit’s Garden. Take the magical journey through the sacred spiral of the seasons into the heart of Celtic heritage and mythology. At 11 acres the gardens are a treasure trove for both adults and children.
Enjoy a light lunch in the Garden’s café or drive on to the village of Oughterard for lunch.
Aughnanure Castle is located just before Oughterard, beside the Oughterard Golf Club. A wonderful and well preserved example of an Irish Tower House.
