Roll up, roll up, for one night only… rock up to the pop-up, when Galway’s boutique beauty
The Twelve brings its award-winning food all the way to Belfast for a very special one-off event in Northern Ireland.
West, the restaurant at the multi-award winning Twelve hotel in Bearna, just outside
Galway city, goes North on Wednesday 26th October to Deanes
Restaurant on Howard Street and to the funky surroundings of The Circle, the exclusive gastroclub upstairs.
This is an exclusive opportunity to taste some of the west of Ireland’s best ingredients, put
together in his inimitably interesting and sophisticated way by chef Martin O’Donnell, but get your request in early, as there are only 35 tickets
available to the food-loving public.
Originally from Bearna himself, Martin’s pop-up menu from West Restaurant will be showcasing
ingredients grown, caught, picked or sourced from as close to The Twelve as possible. These will include turf-smoked Bearna duck breast, and Connemara
abalone served with sea vegetables picked from the shores of Bearna. Chef Martin’s grandmother, Bid O’Donnell, was a well-known face in the Galway
market, where she sold dillisk which she collected along the same shores, and Martin is continuing the family tradition by incorporating those ingredients into his
dishes!
The pop-up West will take place in The Circle, Deanes gastroclub and cocktail bar, located upstairs
in Deanes in Howard Street.
A mellow, warm and laid-back space with an open show kitchen, the intimate
surroundings of The Circle are the perfect venue in which to showcase these
goodies from the west of Ireland.
Two restaurants full of talent, a selection of great ingredients from the west of Ireland,
fantastic wines selected by The Twelve’s General Manager and award-winning
sommelier Fergus O’Halloran, all coming together for one night only!
Five superb courses with matching wines priced at £79, tickets for the event are available
to purchase directly from West at The Twelve or from Deanes

A pop-up at the big top?
West at The Twelve provides delicious festival food to the Galway
Arts Festival’s Big Top
Founded in 1978, Galway Arts Festival is Ireland's
largest international arts festival, and runs this year from July 11- 24. The
Twelve Hotel in Bearna hasn’t been around quite so long, but has made a massive
impact in its first 5 years, particularly for lovers of fine, local and
seasonal food, with West at The Twelve regularly winning awards for its great
take on the best of the region.
West at The Twelve never stands still – literally – as the talented team has already taken
West east with a hugely successful pop-up restaurant at The Stephen’s Green
Hibernian Club in Dublin during April, and now they are popping up again, with
great festival food at Galway Arts Festival’s Big Top – it’s a big top pop-up!
On July 16, 18, 20, 22 and 23 there are great gigs on in the Galway Big Top, and they are
harmonised with perfectly by the soulful tastes of food from West at The
Twelve. Big Top shows include performances from terrific acts like De La Soul,
Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Bell X1, Duke Special, Afrocubism, Blondie and the super-fun of Silent Night, the silent disco!
Food from West at the Big Top lives up to those high standards, with options including Marty’s
Killary Harbour mussels with a choice of sauces – the very rock’n’roll Jack
Daniels cream or the deeply indie apple vodka and Granny Smith! The fresh
tastes of just-picked strawberry and Brie salad with organic leaves and berry
vinaigrette provide a healthier option for festival-going fashionistas keen to
keep their skinny jeans skinny, and for the late night munchies, a tasty Connemara lamb casserole with potatoes and root
vegetables will hit the spot. Deliciously creamy Galway Bay
seafood chowder and James McGeough’s Oughterard lamb sausages on a granary bap
with The Twelve’s onion marmalade are also Big Top options from West at The Twelve.
“We love a spot of adventure at The Twelve,” says Fergus O’ Halloran, the General Manager of
the hotel, “and we get a huge kick out of bringing our great local, seasonal
food out of the restaurant and to new venues and audiences. The whole team also
loves good music, so this is the best of all worlds for us – West at the Big Top is going to be rocking!”
So for a chance to sample tastes from Galway’s top restaurant, pop-up style, and tune into
terrific performances from some great bands, rock up to the pop-up at the Big Top!
