The Twelve’s new and very successful‘Rhythm and Vines Weekend returns in November, bringing together all the finestwine tasting notes and musical notes in an eclectic weekend which, like anygood indie festival and everything they do at The Twelve, is a showcase for thebest of everything alternative, with an independent, non-mainstream ethos.Indie Food and Wine Weekend at The Twelvefocuses on giving independent wines centre stage, shining the spotlight onwines selected by Fergus O’Halloran, The Twelve’s general manager and sommelierextraordinaire, with an emphasis on some smaller Italian wineries which heimports wine from personally a number of times a year.Wine and music have so much in common – thenotes in a glass of wine or piece of music can inspire intense emotion, stimulatehappiness or even joy, or simply fade into a pleasant background. During IndieWine Weekend at The Twelve you get to put the theories that our perception of winecan be deeply influenced by music playing in the background to the test.On Saturday afternoon you’ll visit a bijouversion of a Body & Soul festival upstairs at The Twelve in Na BeannaBeola, with tastings from The Twelve Apostles – Galway’s Rock Stars, mini-treatmentsfrom the fabulous Voya, and a Silent Disco wine tasting. The Silent Disco tasting will involve someinteresting wines, exclusive in Ireland andsourced independently by The Twelve, being paired with music selected by DaraghDukes of Dukes Productions to enhance, amplify, and maybe even confuse! Youractive participation will be required, but there’s no actual dancing necessary– unless you really want to, of course…At dinner in West on Saturday night, Fergus willintroduce more wines and West’schefs will create a pairing menu celebrating the best of local ingredients, allaccompanied by more music chosen to suit the wine and food choices, withplaylists also designed by Dukes Productions. Then make your way downstairs tothe Pins Gastrobar which will feature home-grown live Indie bands from late tolater.Check out after the weekend having triedsome interesting new wines and with a list of fantastic new music or ‘tastingnotes’ to explore – and all after a luxurious break that didn’t involve asingle wet-wipe or wellington boot… Weekends of independent wine and music atThe Twelve’s ‘Rhythm and Vines’ Wine and Food Weekends are a little biteclectic and a whole lot rock’n’roll!
