The village of Barna is steeped in history and was home to the original 'Twelve Pins Hotel', which dated back to the 1800's. As O' Halloran explains "A perfect starting point, we thought to create a new hotel at the crossroads, where history and tradition meet luxury and style.
The interior designer for the hotel was Brian McDonald, who has many impressive projects under his belt including Ron Black's Bar in Dublin's Dawson Street, The Beacon, The Morgan, The Morrison, and Trinity Bar in New York's Wall Street.
The Twelve's exciting food and beverage programme has become internationally acclaimed. This is in no small part due to the wonderful teamwork according to O'Halloran, who himself has worked in some of the finest hotels and restaurants (Le Royal Meridien, Fairmount Hotels, The Four Seasons in Toronto and London and North America's top rated boutique hotel and restaurant, The Wedgewood in Vancouver).
Housed in the building is a world class restaurant and one of the most exciting wine collections in Ireland. The 'hottest seat' in the house is at the 'Chef's Table' where guests can experience the art of great food and wine pairing. The Twelve also musters a state-of-the-art event centre and a private dining room designed for lavish boutique weddings, as well as smaller meeting rooms.
A boutique inspired hotel, The Twelve has been designed with the local neighbourhood in mind. It's a place where the Gaelic speaking locals can sip on their beverage of choice or enjoy freshly baked soda bread or a freshly baked croissant from the hotel's onsite pastry shop. It's also a place where guests can enjoy a full cocktail wet bar in their suite and a host of technological goodies.
All rooms have a 26'' HD plasma which you can plug your laptop into and all have cd and dvd players. All rooms have both Lan and wi-fi connectivity which guests avail of complementary. En-suites are designed with adjustable mood lighting. All guest suites have state of the art door locking systems and digital direct dial telephones.
