A night to remember - a Champagne and sabrage dinner in The Twelve Hotel hosted in partnership with The Confrérie du Sabre d’Or
This autumn, The Twelve Hotel is delighted to welcome Justin Rhodes, brand ambassador of The Confrérie du Sabre d’Or to host a very special five-course tasting menu paired with Champagne on Friday, October 6th in the award-winning West Restaurant. He will be accompanied by Gerard O'Shea, the former ambassador, and Julian White, Ambassador Emeritus.
The Brotherhood of The Golden Sabre, otherwise known as The Confrérie du Sabre d’Or is the association for those who open Champagne using the most dramatic sabrage method. Sabrage is the opening of a bottle of Champagne by removing the cork and the glass collar around the cork with a single (and very flamboyant!) sweep of a ceremonial sabre, a technique thought to have originated with Napoleon's light cavalry, the Hussars.
The evening will begin with a Champagne reception in the private function room, Na Beanna Beola at 6.30 p.m., where Fergus O’Halloran, general manager and head sommelier at The Twelve and conferred Chevalier of the order, will sabre a magnum of Confrerie Premiere Cru Champagne as an appropriately celebratory start to the evening’s proceedings and demonstrating the technique of sabrage.
At 7.30pm dinner in West will commence – always a memorable experience, offering the opportunity to taste the finest Champagne paired with a selection of standout dishes from West’s superb menu.
Members of The Confrérie du Sabre d’Or will be dressed in full regalia and guests are kindly asked to follow a black tie dress code on this special evening.
Guests will also have the unique opportunity to become a Chevalier Official Officer of the order at an additional cost of €360 per person should they wish to avail of this. (Being a chevalier, you become an International member and pay the cotisation to the Grand Council, and this covers the full annual subscription).
Spaces are very limited and will be available to book with an overnight stay via www.thetwelvehotel.ie from the 12th of August at noon. Once this presale has been completed, any remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public during September. So, book early in order to avoid disappointment.
Ticket price includes reception, the five-course tasting menu with Champagne pairing and an overnight stay at The Twelve in either a Splendid Room with breakfast for two at €510 per couple or a Luxury Suite at €560 per couple.
